Adolescence can be a period of very high stress for individuals with ASD and their families. In an attempt to better help support these families, I recently attended a university-based training on a newly developed, research-backed family intervention program. The program includes eight group parent education and support sessions and eight adolescent social skills sessions. Parent group topics include subjects such as transition planning and legal issues.
I am currently working with local providers from a variety of disciplines in order to offer this program to families residing in the Tampa Bay. The projected start-date is mid-September. Additional information regarding times and cost will be coming soon. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
